Min Hee-jin dismisses rumors of "groundless rumors"
ADOR dismissed rumors that the group NewJeans collaborated on the 20th anniversary event of the online game Maple Story.
Rumors spread around the online community on the 20th that NewJeans' collaboration with MapleStory. There is an event called "Strawberry Farm," which is scheduled to be updated in March on Maple Story, because an article promoting content containing an episode of "Please Take Care of Strawberry Farm" was posted on NewJeans' SNS. In addition, some of the lyrics of the NewJeans song "Cookie" were used as hashtags on the official Instagram account of Maple Story character Pink Bin, putting more weight on the collaboration speculation.
But the collaboration between NewJeans and MapleStory is not true. "The game colabo of NewJeans is not true," said the operator of the NewJeans Minor Gallery. "This is the DM reply I just received from CEO Min Hee-jin," he said, releasing an Instagram direct message.
Min Hee-jin, CEO of NewJeans' agency ADOR, said, "I've never heard of a game collaboration. "It is true that there are so many groundless rumors, so you don't have to worry," she replied.
In this regard, ADOr also confirmed to Wikitree that "the content related to Maple Story collaboration is not true."
MapleStory has recently been embroiled in a controversy over client tampering. General director Kang Won-ki appeared on the broadcast in person and announced his apology and future measures, but the anger of game users does not seem to have subsided easily.
The incident began when some of the top users of Maple Story's competitive content, The Seed, were found to have used nuclear weapons. The situation has become out of control as various videos related to buggy play such as "Hunting Core; ·Boss Core" have been uploaded. Long-time fans' voices of dissatisfaction grew as scenes of users who uploaded the video clearing content in the game in an abnormal way were reported. Nexon announced on the 20th that it is responding to client tampering and using illegal programs and is working on defense.
